Sometimes spring fever just gets the best of us. We pack The Circus up with the promise of warmer weather, beaches, sand, and lots of riding.
We made good on all our our promises except for warmer weather. There was some icy wind blowing through Sand Hollow while we were there, but strangely enough, the kids didn't seem to mind much.
And thankfully it didn't last the entire time.
After pulling hair back to keep it out of the wind Casidee says, "The wind sure picked a bad weekend to blow. "
Since we won't have the kids for Easter we had a small egg hunt for the kids on the beach.
The dune buggy was droning around in the not too far distance. Kids and dogs were splashing in the water and kids dug in the sand and laughed right behind me. I was curled up near the fire (that wind was cold!) with my book and soaked it all in. Cali came and sat silently by me for a minute and then says, "I've tried a lot of experiments that worked. But not with explosions." She was dead pan serious.
Cali, I would seriously hope not.
For the record, s'mores have been bumped up to a whole new level.
I may have eaten more than one.
The wind had died down but was still blowing enough to make the smoke from the fire a nuisance. It seemed to favor Sean, who was sitting right next to me. This resulted in him pulling his chair closer and closer to mine until, finally, his charm was overlapping mine.
I told him, "if you come any closer you're going to be sitting in my lap."
"Is that an option?" he asks with a straight face.
And I found a new game called Quelf. I bought the card version, which resulted in this:
We highly recommend it. Good quality family entertainment right there.
I'm sad to be without my circus for a week, but I always look forward to some bonding time with The Man. The kids are heading out with other parents for spring break and Easter. Sad day.
I"m sure The Man and I will figure out a way to manage somehow. If you know anything about us, you know we have plans of some sort or the other up our sleeves.
