Chalk Art Festival

Every once in a while The Man and I break out of our comfortable spot of dinner and a movie (oh how I just really love dinner and a movie with that man) and we do something a little bit different.

We still had dinner.

And we still saw a movie (Man of Steel on opening night!).

But we also added this in between:

The Chalk Art Festival was being held downtown at Gateway in support for Foster children.

We even ran into our neighbors who were participating.  He's a crazy good artist.  He did all the artwork on the Haunted Circus:

Andalin and Russ!
We have a couple of artsy girls in our house and it's got me to thinking with summer being here and all...

I think I'm going to have an chalk art day at our house.

Seriously.  (Update:  We did it here)

Once upon a time I was really into taking art classes and I learned a thing or two that I can teach to the kids who want to do this.  We have squares on the sidewalk already...

I'm going to hit the art store, buy some chalk, have the kids pick out the pictures they want to draw and teach them how to grid it out to draw it.

I think that sounds pretty splendid for a summer's day activity.

If they like doing it, maybe our family can sign up for the festival next year.

I like making plans :).
